How to prepare for a showroom visit to maximize the time

A visit to the showroom prior to an on-site meeting is what is referred to as a preliminary meeting. There are a lot of unknown factors that could impact the final cost of your project. In order to prepare for this meeting and make the time spent most efficient, the following items would be beneficial to know for this meeting. These items include is this a new construction or is it existing, what room or rooms the flooring will be going into, is the floor above, below or at grade*, what floor is currently installed in that room, is there radiant heat installed in that area and total square footage of flooring for that area(s). Although this information is not required to have during the preliminary meeting, any or all of this information will be extremely helpful in guiding you properly towards a floor that works for your specific needs.

What to expect during a showroom visit

During this visit, you will meet with one of our staff members who will get to know what your needs are for your project. We will show you samples offering insight and education on the products themselves. These products are tiered with a budget amount for each; allowing us to give a budget number to work with within each product.  Time is taken to look at these samples and go through any questions you may have regarding your flooring choice. At this point, if you would like to proceed with an on-site visit, we would schedule a time to do that for a more detailed evaluation.

What to expect during an on-site visit

During this visit, an estimator would come to your home to evaluate the details of the project. The estimator will analyze the conditions of the area(s) and, in addition, specific measurements will be taken and pictures for our reference. We will also address the extent of the labor involved, if needed, other than the flooring installation. These items could include content and furniture moving and re-setting, existing flooring removal, trim removal and re-installing, subfloor preparation and hauling and dumping of any of these items. This meeting would allow us to know to include as much or as little labor needed and wanted to complete the work to your satisfaction. From this meeting, an estimate would then be prepared and sent to you to review.
